Apply to become a Young Green Britain champion

Then you could be in luck – Ecotricity are looking for four secondary school pupils to be our Young Green Briton Champions for 2018.

We’re Britain’s greenest energy company and we supply green electricity and gas to over 200,000 customers around the UK. We’re on a mission to create a Green Britain.

We’re focusing on four key areas - energy, transport, food and nature. Between them, energy, transport and food make up 80% of our carbon emissions, so if we can tackle these as well as making space for nature, we can take big steps in creating a Green Britain.

You’ll be mentored by a well-known expert in your chosen category before our Young Green Briton Chat.

You’ll then take to the stage as part of a panel with three other Young Green Britons and your mentors. You’ll communicate your ideas and prove that the next generation has what it takes to make a difference.

This is a great opportunity to shout about something you’re passionate about. One of our previous winners, Finlay Wilde, has gone on to become a prominent environmental blogger and campaigner – and it all started back at WOMAD 2015.

How do I enter?
You’ll need to make a video (lasting no more than three minutes) explaining your ideas on how Britain could be greener in one of our four categories - energy, transport, food or nature.

Be as creative as you like – for example, you could include a science experiment, build a model or create a news report - but most importantly make sure you tell us your idea for how we can make Britain greener, and what we can do to get everyone on board.

You can send us your video either by filling in the form, or by emailing – please make sure you include all of the information listed in the form above.

Are you passionate about the planet?

Do you have some big ideas on how we can green up Britain?

Fancy going on stage at WOMAD festival and sharing your ideas with the world?

How and when will the entries be judged?

The competition closes on Sunday 19 May. Ecotricity will select three finalists in each category and each mentor will select the overall winner, per category, by Friday 15 June. Winners will be informed no later than Friday 22 June. The four winners will receive a weekend pass for themselves and two adults to ‘WOMAD 2018’ (including camping and backstage entry into the Artists’ Village), as well as a personal meeting with their Green Britain mentor. Please make sure that you’ve got permission from your parent or guardian, and that you’re available on Sunday 29 July for the event at WOMAD festival.
